Mommy Makeover Before & After Case 696

In my practice, it's common for mothers who have completed their family to seek ways to address bodily transformations due to pregnancy and weight gain. This was the case for a 45-year-old mother of two who came in for a Mommy Makeover consultation four years after completing her family. She gained 80 pounds during her last pregnancy, and although she successfully lost the weight over the course of four years, she was left with abdominal wall laxity and redundant skin of the breasts and midsection. Four months prior to her consultation, she underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) to address fibroids and endometriosis, which improved her health but resulted in laparoscopic port incisions on her upper abdomen.

Understanding a patient's unique goals is key to achieving the optimal outcome. This patient was satisfied with the size of her breasts but was unhappy with their position. Keeping in mind her desire to retain her breast volume while lifting the overall position provided the framework for my proposed approach. Utilizing Galaflex, a bioabsorbable mesh known for exceptional internal support, was deemed an ideal addition to her surgical plan.

The precision and care invested in these procedures were evident. During her superomedial mastopexy (breast lift), 134 grams and 310 grams of tissue were removed from her left and right breasts, respectively, followed by the insertion of the Galaflex mesh for additional support. This approach focused on elevating her breast position while preserving volume and enhancing symmetry.

To complete her transformation, I performed an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) to tighten her abdominal wall muscles and remove 905 grams (approximately 2 lbs) of excess skin.
